THERE are only 106 private elementary schools offering pre-school and grade school that have permits to operate from the Department of Education (DepEd), the agency confirmed.

DepEd-Davao Regional Director Susana Teresa Estigoy said their legal team has been monitoring private schools in Davao Region to see if any is operating without permits.

"We don't know what schools are operating without permits because what we have in our records are only those that have permits," Estigoy said during Monday's Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City.
