UNICEF and its partners developed a balanced tahderiyyah (Islamic kindergarten) curriculum that merged the fundamentals of preschool learning standards with Islamic prescription on learning. The piloting was done in 17 tahderiyyah centers in Mindanao.
Because of this success, DepEd CO has used this to develop and enhance preschool curriculum for public schools in Muslim communities and private Madaris (Islamic Schools).
It is also interesting to note that AusAID is now supporting this Tahderiyyah initiative with 800 target schools.
